Disabled People Against Cuts were devastated to learn that Faiza Shaheen has been removed as the Labour Party candidate for Chingford and Woodford Green in the forthcoming General Election.
Over the past 14 years many of the atrocities disabled people have faced have been due to Iain Duncan Smith and his so-called Centre for Social Justice so we are horrified to find that Faiza has been deselected by Labour HQ and Keir Starmer.
Faiza is not only a local candidate who cares hugely for her constituency and who has spent the last 6 years building her campaign to remove Duncan Smith from office but is someone we believe could easily have beaten him in the forthcoming General Election.
We find it hard to believe that Keir Starmer seems willing to hand the constituency back to Duncan Smith on a platter and wish to offer our support to Faiza.
We know that several of DPAC members from the Chingford and Wood Green constituency and nearby ones were actively planning to support Faiza’s campaign due to their respect for her but will not be continuing to offer their support for an alternative Labour candidate forced on the constituency.
We as a national campaign group are willing to offer any support we can to facilitate the reinstatement of Faiza as the Labour Party candidate or to offer what support we can if she chooses to stand as an independent candidate.
