Disabled People need to support #StaffOurStations campaign.
The government white paper on transport is disastrous, replacing ticket office staff with a website and an app to buy a ticket and de staffing platforms.
Link to white paper is here
That’s not accessible.   Many disabled people and older adults have no access to the internet, cannot afford access to it or use a smartphone.   Many haven’t the skills to access the internet or it’s simply inaccessible for access needs.
It’s not only that.  It’s about safety.   Accessibility on the stations.  Many disabled wheelchair users and disabled people who use mobility aids  need staff on stations to access and exit the train.
If there had been station staff at Eden Park Station in February 2021 Cleveland Gervais would still be here.
Staffing of our stations are vital.
Please support the campaign:
Please sign and share the 38 Degrees Petition here https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/staff-our-stations-1
Please email The Secretary of State For Transport Grant Shapps
shappsg@paliament.uk why it’s vital that ticket offices and platform staff are fully staffed.
He’s also MP for Welwyn Hatfield
Please let DPAC know if you get a response from them
No if no buts, no station staff cuts
