Soap stars and disabled campaigners have teamed up to produce a short film about what the closure of the Independent Living Fund means to disabled people and why the public should get behind calls to keep it open.

Disabled people deserve our admiration for the way in which they manage their lives and it is up to any decent and responsible government to give them every assistance possible to enable them to continue living with dignity and respect. It is also up to any DECENT AND RESPONSIBLE GOVERNMENT to aid their carers where appropriate.
To take away ILF seems pure, hateful spite. If it’s just ignorance please take another look!
It would be life changing and not in a good way
Leave us alone
Signed and shared. If this doesn’t stop the ILF closure I can see local authorities having to reduce or stop funding for those who need help but who can manage more of their personal care just to meet current ILF users funding. Also fear for any one in future who would have met ILF criteria. Why does this government persist in doing all it can to make disabled and sick people’s lives so difficult?
It does seem unbelievable. Austerity has been proven to NOT stimulate the economy or improve debt. High taxes DO work but are unpopular, and Rupert Murdoch who is rich, powerful, and influential, makes sure the Conservatives get in by spreading lies in his newspapers (allegedly).
I’ve always thought that in many years time historians will look back on this government as a cruel one. It will also be noted that the voters did nothing. Similar to looking back on how the German people were complicit in Hitler’s policies.
Unfortunately this doesn’t help people now.
