[From our allies at Fuel Poverty Action]
This Friday Ofgem will announce the increase in the cost of energy all of us are to pay from October. They will give round figures of how much it will cost. But for many people the cost will be even higher. If you are elderly, ill, disabled, or live in a draughty home, or live in a part of the country where prices are higher than average, you could end up with even worse bills.
Many, many people now simply don’t know how they will cope. And there is a storm brewing. Please think about what you can do. For example,
1) If you would like to speak out and help to make clear to the government what the truth is, and what you will and will not accept, please get in touch. FPA is constantly contacted by the media looking for people prepared to go public about their own experience. We try to put them in touch with people who want to speak out. So we would be glad to hear from you, and happy to discuss what you would and would not be up for.
2)
Fuel Poverty Action, in conjunction with the Good Law Project have written to Ofgem to let them know that we will be taking them to court if they go ahead with the predicted raising of the price cap. More details can be found here:

Additionally, we are looking for people from protected backgrounds such as disabled people, pensioners, or people from disadvantaged or low income backgrounds, to participate and tell their stories as part of this case. If you are in such a position and feel you are happy for your story to be a part of this court action please let us know by replying to this email.
3) And please put in your diaries Thursday 8 September for the first FPA meeting of what promises to be a crucial autumn.
