The price rises in energy are absolutely devastating. The energy market is not delivering the heat and light that we need to survive. Fuel Poverty Action is calling for a radical change that will turn that market upside down. Instead of paying more per unit of energy when we cut down and use less, we should all receive an amount of energy free – enough to keep warm, cook, and keep the lights on. We’re calling this “Energy for All”.
Please sign and share the new petition calling for this vital life support, to be paid for by windfall taxes on energy giants’ profits and by ending the millions of pounds of taxpayers’ money that are now poured into subsidising fossil fuels. The current pricing system is both unfair and lethal. It has to go. At the same time we need a switch to renewable energy and well repaired, draft-proofed, well insulated homes.

The UK is a wealthy nation, with many billionaires – now more than ever due to fortunes made in the pandemic.

Many companies are clocking up exceptional profits. This includes companies producing and trading in gas – even as we struggle to pay the prices they are charging.

Many millionaires are saying, “TAX US NOW” but instead the government is ignoring them and leaving millions to go hungry and cold. Even existing taxes are not enforced, and tens of billions are lost each year to tax evasion by the rich, while at the other end of the cruel economy Universal Credit is cut, and disabled people, children, and pensioners are left in dire poverty

If it’s really short of cash, the government can borrow – at much cheaper rates than we can. Instead they are lending money to energy suppliers and then expecting us to pay the loan back through our bills. Where do they think we are going to find that extra money?
How much do they think the UK public will put up with? Help this be the beginning of the end.
