[From Z2K]
Now that the Health and Disability Green Paper has been published, Z2K have launched a new campaign action which allows people to quickly respond to this consultation – with an Easy Read guide for doing so also provided – and to then write to their MP flagging the inadequacy of this Green Paper.
We believe the proposals in this Green Paper are only half-formed shorter-term sticking plasters, and lack the ambitious, longer-term more fundamental reform required. The one long term proposal they do propose: combining benefits assessments, is hugely concerning and has been frequently rejected by both organisations and individuals with experience of assessments.
The paper also places far too much emphasis and focus on work yet fails to recognise that some people may never be able to work, or the fact that many people are already in work but are living in poverty due to inadequate benefit levels.
That’s why this is an important opportunity to tell DWP that tinkering around the edges is not enough, and it is vital that as many people as possible with experience of the system respond to this consultation.
We would be grateful if you could you share this action on social media: https://z2k.eaction.org.uk/RespondGreenPaper

Disabled people + people with health conditions are being failed by a benefits system that pushes them into poverty
This can + must change. Tell Govt + your MP that urgent reform of health + disability benefits is needed #PeopleBeforeProcess @Z2K_trust https://bit.ly/3fMURJe
For years people have been going through disability benefits assessments that they have described as ‘degrading’ + ‘discriminatory’. This can change. Respond to Govt’s Health & Disability Green Paper + email your MP today #PeopleBeforeProcess @Z2K_trust https://bit.ly/3fMURJe
Benefit assessments need urgent reform, yet Govt’s Health & Disability Green Paper lacks ambition + any commitment to meaningful change. Take action and have your say @Z2K_trust #PeopleBeforeProcess https://bit.ly/3fMURJe
Govt’s Health & Disability Green Paper lacks any commitment to working with disabled people to effectively reform disability benefit assessments. Tell DWP that tinkering around the edges is not enough #PeopleBeforeProcess @Z2K_trust https://bit.ly/3fMURJe

Seeking moral support towards starting an Over 50s party (policies ages from 1 to 100) that includes in manifesto returning to Life Awards for disability benefits, end of work capability assessments and private welfare firms, benefit at 90 per cent of real living wage (Living Wage Foundation rates, not the lower government figure). Replacing private welfare firms with fully funded Citizen Advice Bureau for advice of what entitled to, and disability benefit by simplified forms and doctors diagnosis.
