Yesterday the Disability Benefits Consortium published the results from their recent survey. They had over 2000 responses which is great and want to thank everyone who shared it or took part. The full results of the survey are on their website.
Sadly, the findings are not so great and show what most of us already know. The impact of the pandemic and not receiving the £20 increase has had a devastating impact on people claiming legacy benefits. Reading through the open text boxes is incredibly sad which makes us even more sure we’re doing the right thing and even more determined to continue to fight against this injustice.
We’re sure you’ll agree that it’s an absolute travesty that disabled people on legacy benefits are still being ignored after all this time. The cut to Universal Credit has received an incredible amount of attention recently, and rightly so. However, it is our duty to remind people that there are many who never received this increase in the first place, and that they have been suffering because of that throughout the pandemic.
They have provided tweets that you can use on social media channels, but feel free to adapt or use your own.
