Monday 21st February 5.30pm Parliament Square, Westminster
Last week, after months of work by Detention Action and our allies, we watched a rebellion unfold in the House of Lords, against this Government’s dangerous Anti-Refugee Bill.
Across the political parties, Lords and Baronesses spoke out against this Government’s plans to inject cruelty towards refugees into our country’s laws. On Monday, we’ll be doing the same at our first protest of 2022, outside the House of Commons.
Monday 21st February 5.30pm Parliament Square, Westminster
Last week, our allies stayed in the House of Lords until after three in the morning, challenging this Government to end its attacks on people seeking asylum.
Among the worst of these schemes is offshore detention, which would see people seeking asylum in the UK forced into dangerous detention camps in distant countries, out of sight and beyond our protection. When asked, repeatedly, if they would send children to these infamous offshore camps, this Government refused to answer. We must, then, assume that they would.
If you can’t join us, but would like to add your voice to the protest please sign our letter to PM Boris Johnson and Priti Patel, calling on them to protect children and give up their plans to detain refugees offshore.
