Thanks to Patrick Butler from the Guardian for raising the issue once again of how toxic the Tories and Universal Credit really is and how little compassion they have for the most disadvantaged in our society. The Tory’s motto really is “ Kick them again when they’re down”
We all know that the pandemic has led to further mass unemployment and poverty for those who are not friends of the government. While many millions have been misspent and gone to friends of the Tories the ordinary workers on low or zero hour pay have been shafted over and over again. People in self employment have also been left to rot, including many disabled people.
Now thousands more families will loose hundreds of pounds just before Christmas from their Universal Credit payments as the benefit cap is brought back into effect for newer claimants.
Of course Universal Credit has been less harsh than normal for new claimants this year with the suspension of the Minimum Income Floor and the non- application of the overall benefit cap but now people are set to see what it is really like.
Legacy benefits have never been increased over the last 10 months either as DWP tried to force those claimants with totally inadequate incomes onto Universal Credit instead for an extra £20 a week until next April.
Angela Rayner was right when she called them Scum there is no other word for them. – Well to be honest there may be another word for them but not one that we can put on our website.
