Thursday 20th July – Turn Up and Go protest
Driver Only Operated trains, the removal of guards from trains and rail staff from stations threaten Disabled people’s freedom to travel. On 10th July DPAC campaigners will be joining RMT staff on their picket lines as they take industrial action to defend our right to access public transport.
On 20th July we are inviting Disabled people to travel together en masse to the Department for Transport’s headquarters in London to deliver a petition demanding out right to ride.
Assemble outside the Department for Transport at 2pm. Department for Transport

  1. I would love to attend but there is no rail access from my local station. I’m a wheelchair user and the only way onto the platforms is over a footbridge – all steps! Otherwise I have to get a taxi to the nearest accessible station which is £20 each way.

    • Your train operator is obliged to provide an accessible taxi at no extra cost, so there is nothing to stop you from attending 🙂

  2. I tried filling in the petition on the Welsh government web site. Unfortunatly the audio challenge on the site was not accessible. I tried 3 different screen readers with the same result. I then sent the Welsh government an email from a link on the site. Again I have had no responce from them at all. The email was sent a few days ago. There was supposed to be an audio challenge icon on the site but as I said, my 3 programs couldn’t find it.This frustrates me as it prevents other blind and visialy impaired people from signing the petition.
