Hi there,
My name is Lauren Layfield, I work on The One Show at the BBC.
I wonder if you can help me? We’re desperately after families, single mums or single people who are going to be affected by the bedroom tax.
I wondered if you knew of anyone who’d be willing to speak to us about their situation?
We’re tried a few options now, but we’ve had a lot of bad luck…namely case studies falling poorly! We’re worried, unless we find someone soon, we won’t be able to do the story. Which would be a terrible shame as we get around 5m viewers every night and we want to bring it to people’s attention – one massive concern from housing associations is that many people don’t know it’s happening, or even BELIEVE it’s going to take effect, which is worrying.

i live in a 3 bedroom house, for 15 years as i had children that the rooms was for, they are all grown up, apart from one who does not live with me for certain reasons but in a year when 16 will do, who will go to collage and i can make up for time being apart, ive live in my home as a single person on ESA as to ill to work, not getting DLA been rufused so many times, but allways hoped my kids would come home, but now i will loose my home that i feel safe and have a good relaltionship with the neighbours, that i dont want to loose, which i will as ive not also got to pay £15 towards my rent every 2 wks also £30 a week on the rooms i do not use, in the eyes of the law, even though i have my sons who stay when i am at my worse, and also have to pay towards my council tax as i dont get income surport, dont get cold weather payments, not entilitled to any loans or grants, move into a 1 bedroom flat {even though there is none} what is avaiable is shit holes basically, which means when ime ill i will have to struggle and my child wont be able to move in with me, so when the law comes into place, i will end up with rent arrears, which means i will not be allowed on a housing waiting list or anything, i took my tennancy on when i had 4 kids so house was suitable so now i have to leave or pay the rent, which i will leaving me no money for food at all so either starve or homeless
im in 4 bedroomed property and have two girls ages 10 and 12 they say girls can share so expecting me to move to a 2 beroom i understand i have one room spare and am willing to pay for that one but i think the girls are used to having their own personal space so why should that change x i live in hastings east sussex x
if your property is rented, and the council gave you the property you should not have to pay anything, as that property was suitable for yourself and family, if the bedroom tax applies it should be for private tennants who live in a property that was and still is far to big, ie a single man or women who rent off a private landlord and the rent is the set rent price for a single person, £92 wk where we live, and they know they dont need the other rooms at the time of moving in, well fair enough but for people who have spent years making there home a home and kids grew up, move out, HAVE TO move out and down size, maybe some people may want to, most wont want to move, theres never been any problems before so why now
