[Text from Rail, Maritime and Transport Union(RMT)]
You may be aware that last week ScotRail announced proposals to reduce ticket office opening hours at 117 stations (including closing three ticket offices completely).
The watchdog Transport Focus is running a consultation on the proposals which closes on 2nd Feb.
You can see the full list of proposals here – https://www.scotrail.co.uk/scotrail-ticket-office-consultation
We are opposing the cuts which we think will deter passengers from the rail network and worsen passenger service, safety, security and accessibility.
Once the consultation has closed Transport Focus will respond to ScotRail’s proposals – if there is sufficient opposition from passengers, it can object to proposals. Therefore, it’s really important that as many people and groups respond to the consultation as possible.
We will also be calling on the Scottish Government, which is already fully funding the franchise under its Emergency Measures Agreement and will be running it in the public sector from 1 April to intervene and withdraw the proposals.
