People’s Assembly National Demonstration
Saturday 5th November 2022, 12 noon, London
The People’s Assembly have called a National Demonstration, Britain is Broken, General Election Now on Saturday 5th November 2022
RMT have called a train strike on this day in the fight for their pay and conditions with the train operating companies (TOCs).
There will be coaches from regions and local areas across the UK to travel to London. However, we know for wheelchair users and disabled people using mobility equipment or in chronic pain coaches are inaccessible and do not meet access needs.
The RMT strike is important for these reasons: RMT are fighting back against closure of the ticket offices, removal of critically safety trained platform staff. Ticket offices and critically trained safety staff are a vital lifeline for deaf and disabled people to book tickets, plan journeys and get access support and enter and exit the station and trains so that we can travel and live our lives. We send the RMT (Rail, Martime and Transport )Union our full solidarity.
If you cannot travel to the demonstration, but your local RMT branch in your area has a picket line, please support them. The striking workers would appreciate the solidarity and you would be welcomed.
If you’re unable to travel to London due to the train strike:
The People’s Assembly will have two rallies. One at the start of the march at Embankment Place, London
Speeches at the start of the March will be from 12 noon until 12.45pm this will be BSL
The second rally will be after the March finishes at 2.15 pm at Trafalgar Square London WC2N 5DN the rally will be BSL
The March and rally will be live-streamed. It will also be on Facebook live.
