DPAC Logo with text underneath "Disabled People Against Cuts" and then web address dpac.uk.net

We are issuing this statement to try to clarify some inaccuracies. DPAC is not and never has been a charity we are a Direct Action Network. We are not involved with either the Masons or the Mafia.

As such we do not have a team of trustees, and we organise horizontally so no-one is “in charge” of DPAC. We have input in a wide range of activities from so many people that it is impossible to name just a few. We have no paid staff and are all volunteers, many of us putting in hours of work to support other disabled people and fight for our rights.

And in relation to naming those who make day-to-day decisions –  as any real activist knows this is legally very unwise. Obviously on an individual basis if anyone wishes to disclose that they are member’s of DPAC;s steering group that is fine but as a network we do not intend to name individuals publicly for their protection.

It is very difficult to believe that so much fuss has been made about one single post being deleted from our facebook group. However the facebook admins will continue to moderate the group to keep it safe for our users in spite of facing often daily abuse for their efforts.

If someone is banned from the facebook group for whatever reason we are not open to being offered money to reinstate them and find such behaviour totally offensive and unacceptable.

  1. DPAC as an organisation of activists have demonstrated a clear commitment to the struggles of disabled people. There has been a transparent consistent approach for which,, I in supporting a young disabled person who was abused in residential care, found the support from DPAC to be essential and unconditional.

DPAC provides a powerful voice, which Must Continue to be heard.

  2. Most store allow me to enter, when they observe I have mobility problems,
however I have been asked whether I had a CARD. Is there a CARD that
we need to have. Some may think it,s not fair; we’ll get over it, it,s no fun having
    mobility problems.
