For an ongoing legal challenge we urgently need to hear from anyone whose direct payment rates haven’t increased for years and who use agency carers and have been told by the agency that they can’t fully meet their needs because the hourly rate is not high enough.

We will need to pass contact details onto the solicitor dealing with this case so please could you add a phone number. You can email us at mail@dpac.uk.net

One Response to “Information needed to help with a legal challenge into hourly care funding rates”

  1. This might be really difficult as a lot of local authorities are just coming out with an overall “personal budget” decided by a computer and based on what is spoken about in the assessment – rather than having specific hourly rates. The get out is that they say you can set your own rates. It was supposed to make it more transparent and equitable but in fact jousts adds another layer of deception.

I saw a FOI request asking about DP hourly rates and they said exactly that!

I think the only thing you could do is try to do an FOI request to ask about what figures are used in the “Resource Allocation System” or RAS – and what this means for people who want to have a direct payment.
